This is a interesting topic, I'd like to share our experiences.
Before new businesses join SA, our booking method is only text message to the phone numbers list in related posts. New businesses might be use same method, it all depends on them. We just keep the businesses in our site are safe; the spots of businesses are safe, then our hobbyists are safe. And, after the phone numbers receive the text message from New numbers, we will ask Username/Display Name first.
Here, I share following screenshot about recent scams. And, for protect our VIP privacy, I mosaiced the username and some other infos. Why display the phone number in the screenshot? because I know this is a virtual or VoIP phone number, scams using, and it already disconnected.
It happened on Feb.7, 2023, you could see the one asked address. Due to that is new number, We asked the username. However, the number under the username is different than the one using.
We understand people may change phone number in some reasons. But, for sensitive reasons that related with account details, we have to ask more for verification, such as through our Tickets system or Private Message Feature.
Then, I ask the one to send ticket to us for verification if he is the real. You could see the screenshot shows he said he did that. But we didn’t see any new tickets in our ticket system. I supposed the one is fake and pretend our VIPs. At that time, I thought I can start a discussion about this experiences. So I asked more verification, let the one send the profile screenshot after login.
Finally, he sent a screenshot with the username profile, And, we explained something to him… then, he stopped to reply..
I thought it is the end; but the same one, I suppose, contacted our other numbers by using different phone number, I will post it to second thread in this post.
